Should I create a Profile or an Event first?

When you click Create a Booking Page, vrtual.ly gives you two options: a Profile Booking Page or an Event Booking Page. Here’s how they work—and how to choose.

Profiles: 1-on-1 services and your core offering

A Profile represents the main service you provide. For example: “Financial Advisor,” “Fitness Coach,” “Math Tutor,” or “Career Strategist.” Clients book private, 1-on-1 appointments on your profile page.

A profile can include:

  • Scheduled 1-on-1 appointments
  • Connect Now (on-demand)
  • Packages (bundle of sessions)
  • Featured live events associated with that profile

Events: Live group offerings that sit under a profile

An Event Booking Page is for:

  • Live group classes
  • Workshops
  • Group sessions
  • Multi-session cohorts
  • Recurring event series

Events are child objects of a Profile. That means every event must belong to a profile.

Which should you create first?

The preferred flow is to create your Profile Booking Page first. This helps you define your main service, title, branding, and availability before attaching events.

What if you create an event first?

If you choose to create an event first, vrtual.ly will automatically create a profile for you behind the scenes. This is because every event needs a parent profile to store your general information, availability, and service structure.

Why this structure matters

Your profile becomes the “home base” of your business. It can showcase:

  • Your 1-on-1 offerings
  • Your packages
  • Your Connect Now option
  • All live events associated with you

Think of your profile as your main service hub. Events are simply additional offerings you attach to it.

Recommendation: Create your profile first, then add events. It gives you the cleanest structure and is easiest to understand for your clients.
