Zoom Integration Documentation
Official Zoom App User Documentation
This page serves as the official user documentation for the vrtual.ly Zoom integration submitted for Zoom App Marketplace review. It explains how to connect Zoom (OAuth), how the integration is used, what permissions are requested, how meetings are created, and how to disconnect/revoke access.
Quick Overview
vrtual.ly connects to your Zoom account using Zoom’s secure OAuth authorization process to create Zoom meeting links for confirmed bookings. No software is installed on your Zoom account.
1) Connect Zoom (Add / Authorize)
Users connect their Zoom account from within the vrtual.ly platform:
- Log in to your vrtual.ly account
- From your Workspace, click Business Tools
- Select Integrations
- Locate Zoom and click Set Up
- You will be redirected to Zoom to review permissions and authorize access
- After authorization, you are returned to vrtual.ly with Zoom connected
Note: No Zoom meetings are created during the authorization step.
2) How the Integration Works
vrtual.ly uses Zoom’s OAuth authorization to connect a user’s Zoom account. Once connected, vrtual.ly can create Zoom meetings only when a booking is confirmed by a user action.
Important (User-Initiated Behavior): Zoom meetings are created only after a user-initiated booking is confirmed. vrtual.ly does not create Zoom meetings automatically, in advance, or without explicit user action.
3) OAuth Permissions (Scopes) Used
The vrtual.ly Zoom integration requests only the permissions required to support bookings:
- meeting:write – Used to create Zoom meetings after a booking is confirmed
- meeting:read – Used to retrieve meeting details for display to hosts and participants
Permissions are used only in response to user-initiated actions within the vrtual.ly platform.
4) Meeting Creation & Usage (What Users Experience)
Once Zoom is connected, vrtual.ly creates a unique Zoom meeting only when a booking is confirmed.
- Each confirmed booking generates a unique Zoom meeting
- Host and participant join links are generated per booking
- Meetings are tied directly to the booking time and details
vrtual.ly stores only the Zoom meeting ID and join URLs required to support the booking experience.
5) Troubleshooting
If a Zoom meeting link is not generated, please verify the following:
- Your Zoom account is still connected
- The booking has been successfully confirmed
- The scheduled time has not already passed
If the issue persists, contact support at care@vrtual.ly.
6) Disconnect / Remove the Zoom Integration (Uninstall)
You can remove the Zoom integration from vrtual.ly at any time.
- Go to Workspace → Business Tools → Integrations
- Locate the connected Zoom account
- Click the Delete icon next to the Zoom integration
When removed, all Zoom access tokens are immediately invalidated and vrtual.ly stops all Zoom API calls.
You may also revoke access directly from your Zoom account under Zoom App Marketplace → Manage → Installed Apps.
7) Data Handling After Removal
- All Zoom API access stops immediately after removal
- No new Zoom meetings are created
- Historical booking metadata is retained only for reporting and record-keeping
- No Zoom account data or meeting content is retained
